New Strategy Center and the Department of Armaments within the Ministry of National Defense organized on Thursday, January 28, the conference “European Defense Fund. Opportunities and Benefits for Romanian Industry”. The event aimed to better understand the directions of action of the European Defense Fund and the programs that can be financed by this fund of the EU multiannual budget, in order to identify opportunities and benefits for the Romanian industry and for the research sector.
At this event, the participants benefited from the presence of Ms. Simona Cojocaru and Mr. Dan Neculaescu and Mr. Dragoș Ciuparu, secretaries of state within the Ministry of National Defense, MFA and the Ministry for Research, Innovation and Digitalization. At the same time, from Brussels, Sylvia Kainz-Huber, Head of the Research Unit – European Defense Fund within the Directorate-General for the Defense Industry and Outer Space within the European Commission, and Ambassador Mihnea Motoc, Deputy Director of European Political Strategy Center (EPSC), European Commission. Several experts from Romanian institutions involved in the EDF and PESCO programs answered participants with a series of questions.
The conference, moderated by Major General Teodor Incicaș, Director General of the Department of Armaments, and George Scutaru, Director General of NSC, also aimed to strengthen the dialogue between the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Ministry of National Defense, the research sector, academia, representatives national industry and companies in the EU and NATO space with a rich tradition in the field of defense.
