Representatives of the New Strategy Center and the Sofia Security Forum met online on Thursday, February 4, 2021, to discuss topics of common interest in the fields of security and international relations. The security challenges in the Black Sea and Balkans region, both classic and emerging, were on the agenda of discussions between the Romanian and Bulgarian experts. At the same time, Romanian and Bulgarian experts analyzed how the transatlantic relationship will develop as a result of the installation of a new administration in the US, how the EU-US dialogue on issues of common interest will evolve, which will be elements of continuity and novelty in US foreign and security policy.

New Strategy Center and Sofia Security Forum concluded a memorandum of cooperation in December 2020, which aims to organize events, consultations and develop analyzes on topics of common interest. The two think tanks in Bucharest and Sofia aim to contribute to strengthening relations between Romania and Bulgaria and to a better understanding of each party’s perception of the security challenges in our neighborhood.
